The look is Back!

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

3Yep, it’s on again! The 21st Annual Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic is geared up for another rod bending line ripping good time for the whole family 6th - 8th April.

So in keeping with tradition FishiLeaks sat down with club President Ron Henderson (pictured left) to see what he and the dedicated volunteers have install for 2012; and no surprise he had that ‘stunned Mullet’ look again when he found out The Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic is back on.

In a yet another tell all 3 day interview Ron dropped a bombshell when he revealed he is releasing his memoirs this year where he talks about everything from lawn mowing, fishing, and golf to his deep love for kittens and his desire to return to male underwear modelling, “because I am known as ‘The Look’ ”. Once Ron got that off his chest we got down to business and he revealed he weeps uncontrollably when he reflects on all the dedicated club members over the past 21 years who have contributed their time and energy to ensure the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic has grown and matured into one of the top 5 events on the Fraser Coast, weeping Ron said, “I just can’t wait to get started so we can celebrate the events 21st birthday”.

In a ‘strange’ moment, Rons mood shifted from deep emotion to confusion when he said, “how come we are giving away over $45,000 in prizes plus a mega boating package when it’s our 21st birthday, shouldn’t we get the presents”? After some time clearing up the confusion, Ron exercised his modelling experience and has arranged for the merchandise coordinator Amanda a new look fishing fashion range for the Easter Classic.

We gave the last word to his wife Leanne, “we all know Ronny is an Adonis and a great club President, but you know behind every great man is an even better woman to keep him organised”.

1FishiLeaks Reveals Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic Insider

In the biggest news of 2012, FishiLeaks is able to reveal the insider who has provided over 10 secret Easter Classic documents. In supplying insider information the public is now being made aware of the extent to which the Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club has gone to deliver the biggest Easter Fishing Classic in its 21 years.

Peter Gamel (age with-held due to his youthful appearance) has been identified in the Burrum Heads Kangaroo Court as being the mastermind behind the leaking of information. Peter Gamel has been charged with 10 counts of breaching the Burrum Heads Anti-secrecy Act by revealing the following secrets:

-Easter Fishing Classic turns 21 in 2012

-Free lanyards to all who register

-Register online www.burrumfishingclassic.com.au

-$45,000 in prizes and giveaways

-2 big Kids Clinics on Sunday Morning

-The biggest major raffle in the history of the Easter Classic with 3 holidays up for grabs

-An exciting Early bird prize

-Another awesome Super Draw Boat to give away

-Watch the free Promo movie at www.burrumfishingclassic.com.au

-AUSTACKLE back with seriously good fishing gear

-Reverse Draw has been renovated

In a statement released over the weekend Peter Gamel confessed that he did supply detailed information to FishiLeaks, asked why he felt it necessary he had this to say, “I feel like a sweet tooth in a candy store and I just can’t wait for the Easter Classic each year, I want everyone to know”. 2

FishiLeaks can confirm Chief Magistrate Keith McMahon (pictured Right) has sentenced Peter Gamel to 3 days of Family Fishing FUN at the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic April 6th – 8th. Chief Magistrate McMahon sighted the revealing of the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic turning 21 as being the force behind the strict sentence when he said, “That young man Gamel is just a happy guy who loves to see families have lots of fun”.

In a bizarre twist, Chief Magistrate McMahon will be sentenced in the QLD Cane Toad Courts in May for being a ‘NSW BLUES’ supporter. Shame Maca, Shame!

Peter Gamel had the final word (as usual) on his sentence this weekend when he said, “for a rod bending, line ripping good time I will see you at the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic for the BIG 21st Birthday bash”.

Happy 21st Birthday!

Many moons have passed since 1991 where Paul Keating was Prime Minister, Alan Boarder was Australian cricket captain, petrol averaged at .62c/Ltr with milk a $1/Ltr, Benny Hill passes away, Ireland beats Australia in Rugby Union, Brian Westwood wins the Archibald prize, space shuttle Atlantis8 lands, contact lenses were invented in Australia, and the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic was born.

Started by 3 families which included 10 children in 1991; the Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club started the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic as a fun family event over the Easter weekend to enjoy and relax in the village atmosphere while wetting a line in a beautiful environment.

In just the first 4 years of the Easter Classic, the Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing club was able

to fund the infrastructure, turf, pathways, and lighting present at the Lions Park for all

community and visitors to enjoy year round from the proceeds of the Easter Classic. Over the 21 years The Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic has raised money to support local organizations, sponsor individuals, and directly contribute to the economy of the village.

The event has matured (along with the fashions thankfully) to have experienced a steady growth rate of 17.5%/year due to its popularity. The support from the community and businesses local and across Australia alike has allowed the Easter Fishing Classic to grow in numbers and in the capacity to generate spectacular prizes and giveaways to all who attend.

All members of the Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club are volunteers who take enormous pride in their community and environment with sustainable fishing endorsement, kids clinics to educate and build awareness, supporting a wide range of community events such as the Endeavour Christmas day boat run and cricket match, and bringing life to a usually quiet village in delivering the Easter Fishing Classic right on the foreshores of the picturesque Burrum River.

As a result of all the volunteers over the last 21 years the Burrum heads Amateur Fishing Club was awarded the Fraser Coast Australia Day Community Event award in 2009 and has made the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic a top 5 event in the Wide Bay Fraser Coast and is regarded as one of the biggest family fishing events in Qld.
