About

On the Beach Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic which has been organised by the Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club for the past 19 years.
Thousands flock to this annual fishing event, and not all of them are keen fishermen.
The Easter fishing Classic has become a “must do” on the Fraser Coast holiday calendar attracting visitors, especially repeat visitors, friends and family from far afield to Burrum Heads. Many now call the village their second home.
The family friendly fishing competition is of huge economic benefit to Burrum Heads and provides locals with extra casual employment. Its success generates considerable community spirit and pride.
Fraser Coast Australia Day Community Event Award 2009

The Club was fortunate to take out the Fraser Coast Australia day Community Event for 2009.
Club members work very hard throughout the year to organise this annual family fishing event, with most members working all Easter Weekend when everyone else is on holidays.
The Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club members always give a 110% effort to ensuring the competition is a success.
They work solidly on preparations throughout the year, then roll up their sleeves to work hard during the long weekend at a time when everyone else is on holiday.
It may not be the biggest competition on the fishing calendar, but Burrum Heads residents are sure their Easter Classic is one of the most affordable and family friendly in the extended region.
As with any community events, the proof of its success is clearly evident in the number of people, and sponsors, who return each year.
The Easter Classic emphasises education, especially through its catch and release classes. You don’t have to weigh in a fish to win a prize.
