burrum-2

burrum-1In an exclusive, FishiLeaks can reveal  the level of gratitude the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing

Classic has for their sponsors. One document in particular reads, “A BIG THANKS TO ALL

SPONSORS” and FishiLeaks has tracked down the ‘thanker’ who has confessed to having made the

thank you comments.

Eric Davey (age with held because I don’t it) was very candid about the extent the sponsors

get behind the Easter Classic:

Eric- “Got heaps of sponsors”

FishiLeaks- “So you are saying you  have 120 sponsors from all over Australia who have been

involved for many years which allows you to give away over $45,000 in prizes”.

Eric- “Yep”!

FishiLeaks pushed Eric (he only fell a bit) as to why he felt the sponsors have been so dedicated over the years and in typical fashion he wrinkles up the left side of his face:

Eric- “We’re good”

FishiLeaks- “So you’re saying the dedication of the sponsors is because the Easter Fishing Classic has a strong reputation for providing a high quality family event consistantly for 21 years”.

Eric- “Yep”!

FishiLeaks was interested in how Eric manages to coordinate the generosity of sponsors each year and in his insightful manner said:

Eric- “I know stuff”

FishiLeaks- “So what you’re saying is you have developed and maintained strong relationships with sponsors and they know they are involved in a high quality event which attracts over 10,000 people in 3 days”

Eric- “Sure”

When asked about why he made the ‘THANK YOU’ comments Eric was exuberant in his reply:

Eric- “Because”

FishiLeaks- “So you’re saying the reason you made the thank you comments is due to the generosity of sponsors who help make the Easter Fishing Classic a memorable time for all the family”

Eric- “Sounds about right”

FishiLeaks can also reveal Eric and his wife Rosemary will not attend this years Easter Fishing Classic as they will be celebrating the wedding of their daughter Michelle to Brandon.

Congratulations you pair of youngins!

A Big Thanks Boys!

- Steve at the Burrum Heads Hotel/Motel reckons it’s hard to make a comeback when you haven’t been anywhere so he would love you to call in so you know where the comfortable rooms and the cool beverages are available.

So whether you are looking to jag $500 in cash from Steve for the heaviest Whiting at the Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic or just looking for a great feed and a cold one call in and see Steve and the gang at the Burrum Heads Hotel.

Remember as Steve says, if your partner drives you to drink just know, mine still makes me walk and I own the place!

- When you enter Burrum Heads FoodWorks you will hear a regular message, “mop and bucket to isle 3, Andrew is still drooling”! Wife and ‘real boss’ Tanya has junior staff follow Andrew around with a mop and bucket. Tanya just hopes Andrew in all his giddy excitement sponsoring the $500 heaviest Flathead remembers to stock the bait, drinks and ice for all the Easter visitors hunting the big one.

When you call in to say hi to Andrew & Tanya and you will usually find Andrew in the post office licking stamps.

GET A REAL HOBBY ANDREW!

- Luke the ‘ladies man’ loves 2 things… offal and giving away $500 in cash for heaviest Bream. As an Easter Classic sponsor veteran, Luke reckons you can only get a snag in the Burrum River or at Burrum Heads Butchery. While fishing the Easter Classic Luke and the crew at Burrum Heads Butchery would love you to check out their meat and get hooked on their fresh quality and service.

Luke is so passionate about his meat he talks for hours about his rump, but being a very sensitive man, just don’t ask Luke if he has a sheep’s head because it’s just the way he combs his hair.

Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classic was among 49 Qld events and the ONLY event in the Fraser Coast/South Burnett regions who received funding from the Premier and Minister for the Arts, the Honourable Ana Bligh to hold a Queensland event.

The $8,500 announcement came on the 17th December 2010 with the Premier saying, “Events create a new reason for people to visit and are a great way to promote an area”.

“This funding is supporting regional events that attract tourists, increase economic activity, support jobs, entertain locals and boost community spirit”.

The Easter Fishing Classic for 20 years has been a conduit in attracting visitors from around Australia and overseas to the small fishing village and is proud of the economic boost and community benefit the event brings to Burrum Heads.

austackleSome say he only comes out at night and is rarely seen in public.

Some say he is so shy even when he looks in the mirror be becomes bashful.

But tell Mike Cole there’s a fishing comp in Burrum Heads and he goes crackers, just begging to give away his Aussie designed fishing gear for Aussie anglers of all ages and skill.

Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club President Ron Henderson has spent many a long hour consoling Mike over the Easter being too far away.

But now Easter is just around the corner Ron sent the ‘King of Prizes’ Eric Davey to break the news to Mike being the 20th annual Burrum Heads Easter Fishing Classics’ Premier sponsor in 2011.

The ‘King of Prizes’ revealed Mike became so animated at the news he broke into his favourite Pointer Sisters song – I’m So Excited.

Mike also wants to buy a kitten.

Congratulations Mike!
