Terms
- Competition commences 7.00am Good Friday and closes at end of weigh-in at 2.00pm on Easter Sunday.
- “Sign-on” is 7.00am to 4.30pm Good Friday and 7.00am to 4.00pm Easter Saturday.
- “ENTRY FEES” are Adult, $20 per person and Junior (aged 15yrs or under), $5 per person.
- Dead “Weigh-ins” on Easter Saturday are 12 noon to 1.00pm and 4.00pm to 5.00pm and Easter Sunday, 1.00pm to 2.00pm. Persons wishing to weigh in fish must be in queue no later than final time at each of these weigh-ins. Live weigh-ins are Good Friday, 9am to 4.30pm, Easter Saturday, 8.00am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 3.30pm and Easter Sunday, 8.00am to 12.30pm.
- Fish being weighed in the dead section of the competition, must be gilled and gutted but not scaled, in good condition, must not have been frozen, and must be of legal size. Fish deemed to be altered or tampered with, or poorly kept by their state of decomposition may be rejected from weigh-in by the weigh-master. Fish being weighed in the live section of the competition, must be in healthy condition, must not be bleeding from the gills and must be able to swim upright upon release. Foreign objects in fish, means instant dismissal from the Competition. Only the nominated species in the Junior and Senior divisions will be accepted for weigh-in purposes. Only one (1) heaviest fish of each species at each of the dead weigh-ins is accepted. At the live weigh-in, you can weigh-in as many times as you wish.
- Fish from the live weigh in are still eligible for the overall heaviest in their respective species and gain the advantage of not being gutted and gilled.
- Competitors must hook and land their own fish, only assistance by gaffing or landing net is allowed.
- Fish caught on chartered trips are not eligible for weigh in.
- All fish must have been caught on a hand line or rod and reel only.
- In the event of an equal weight in any of the heaviest fish species, a draw will decide the winner. The loser will be compensated but not necessarily with the same prize or value.
- All Queensland fishing and boating regulations, and Marine Park rulings in force at time of Competition, must be adhered to.
- Entry Cards must be presented in person, and further official identification may be required by the Management Committee: at weigh-in; when receiving prizes; Promotional Draws; Super Draws.
- All entries become the property of Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club Inc and may be used for marketing purposes. The Judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The “Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club Inc.” has the right to cancel the fishing competition at any time due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather etc. and all nominees will receive a full refund on presentation of their Entry Card.
- The “Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club Inc.” Management Committee will settle all disputes and their decision will be final.
- The competitor nominated, notes and acknowledges that the “Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club Inc.”, accepts no liability for any injury, loss or damage, to any person or property in the course of excursion and the Competition generally, when such injury or loss is due, or alleged to be due, to any act, neglect, or default on the part of the “Burrum Heads Amateur Fishing Club Inc.”, or any official or agency thereof, and all Competitors fully understand, that in participating, they do so entirely at their own risk, and by their signature, agree to abide by all rules and regulations. The competitor acknowledges the potential dangers of fishing, and in particular rock fishing, and understands that in entering the competition an event could occur that could lead to serious injury or even death. The competitor is therefore entering in the fishing competition at their own risk.
- The Promotional Draw Rules
- Restricted to only those entrants paying the $20 Competition entry fee.
- One elimination round to select 20 Finalists for the Promotional Draw will be conducted in two halves as per the rules of Gaming.
- 10 Finalists will be drawn on the Easter Saturday at 5.00pm (approx).
- 10 Finalists will be drawn on the Easter Sunday at 3.45pm (approx).
- Entrants must be present at the draws and will have 1 minute to present themselves and Entry Cards, to the officials.
- Each of the lucky Twenty (20) entrants drawn will receive a promotional Cap which they will be expected to wear for the Promotional Draw, which will begin at approx. 4.15pm on Easter Sunday.
- The Draw will be conducted from 1 – 20, 1 being the Major to Minor Prizes but the results will be announced in reverse order from Minor to Major prizes.
- The Super Draw Rules:
- Senior Super Draw is for entrants 16 years of age and over paying the $20 Entry Fee.
- Junior Girls & Boys Super Draws for all entrants 15yrs or younger, paying the $5 Entry Fee.
- C. One number will be drawn in the Super Draw and the winner will have one (1) minute to present him or herself and Entry Card, to the officials.
- If not there within the time limit the next number will be drawn.
